The Hollywood Bowl

Last night I attended the Hollywood bowl with my friends and our younger siblings. The theme was Loony Tunes Symphonies. As you might have already guessed, it was a show for little kids. The Hollywood Bowl wants to bring the arts back and in order to do so they must reach out to all ages, and last nights show did. Playing upon big screens were Loony Tune cartoons. While the orchestra played the back round music or anything that needed to played for the episode.
As we entered the Hollywood Bowl I saw a sign about the history of the place. On it was a picture of two ladies coming to watch a show. The picture was probably taken in the late 1800's, early 1900's and it made me think, this was probably the place where the rich went to see opera's and hear beautiful music. It made me ask myself where are the arts are going now. I mean what the movie theaters are now is what plays were in the forties (except more extravagant and exciting).
The show, all and all was marvelous. The second the music started you felt like you were back in 30's/40's about to watch a new episode that stared your favorite bunny. I just wish that the twenty-first century was like the thirties, with the same simplicity and elegance that it had back then.

  1. Do you think we tend to romanticize older eras?

  2. Yes I believe we do! But it was a bit simpler back then because people only communicated through leters, telephone, or *gasp* in person (hard to believe I know). So yes, it is over romanticized but I believe in some cases it was better.
